Attendance - How can we all help?
At our school, we do lots of things to help make sure everyone comes to school as much as they can:
We tell the government every day how many children are in school, because that’s the rule for all schools.
We work closely with children and their families to help with any problems, with help from our Inclusion Team.
We share news about attendance in our school newsletters so parents/carers know what’s going on.
We talk about why coming to school every day is a good thing.
We keep a list of all the children who go to our school.
We also keep track of who is in school each day.
If someone is not here when we take the register, we check in to find out why.
We show parents/carers how often their child has been in school each term.
We let parents/carers know how their child’s attendance is going and how it affects their learning.
If a child’s attendance drops too low, we talk to their parents/carers to see how we can help
Here’s what we ask parents and carers to do:
Make sure their child comes to school every day unless there’s a really good reason, like being very unwell.
Make sure your child arrives at school on time every day.
Let the school know as soon as they can if their child can’t come in, this must be before 8.50am for Silver St pupils and 9.00am for Ditton St pupils.
Only ask for time off school in exceptional circumstances, and this must be requested in advance in line with the school policy.
Try to book doctor or dentist appointments outside of school time if they can.
