Welcome to the Autumn Term 2025. We have already had a busy opening to the year. We hope this can be somewhere we can share our learning and exciting events alongside ClassDojo. Please do not hesitate to contact your class teacher via ClassDojo if you need to ask a question and they will aim to get back to you within two school days (but hopefully quicker). Please bear in mind that messages are generally only replied to during school hours. If you need to message about change of pickup / absence then please ensure you contact the school office directly on 01460 52686.
Please also check out the curriculum areas as these have links to fun learning! For instance, in the Maths area there is information about the Y4 Multilication Checker Test that all Year 4s take part in each June. There are also liks to youtube Times Table Videos and practice test sheets for all times tables. Please remember, as part of their weekly homework, all children are expected to practice their times tables through the TT Rockstars website or APP for a minimum of 20 minutes (four lots of five minutes ideally rather than one long chunk!) and teachers monitor this most weeks. There are also certificates given out during our weekly celebration assembly for the best class and children. There is a parent guide and video What is Times Tables Rock Stars? Parents and Carers Guide (youtube.com) below which helps explains the different game versions within TT Rockstars as some allow children to pick the times tables they get given (they often pick the ones they know) whilst others use their previous answers to determine which they need to practice more. You can also use their TT Rockstars login to access NUMBOTS which helps to refine addition and subtraction facts too!
Please have a look at the latest information regarding our Reading Expectations that is found below as updated by Mr Whitfield in a message to parents in October 2024. We also share with you the PowerPoint that children were shown. We now expect all children to read for a minimum of five times a week for 10 minutes each time, this can be through listening to and reading texts. Please ensure you sign their reading records weekly for all of these occasions and these are checked at the start of each week. Certificates and even free books (when available) are given out to children who fullfill this requirement each week of the half term! Children have opportunities to read within the school day at our daily morning reading club and also at Breakfast / After School Club if they attend.
This year we are beginning a brand new way to teach our writing curriculum (alongside phonics, spellings and handwriting!). If you hear the term 'chotting' do not worry...... your child is using a term we use in class that is a mix of quality chatting or discussions and jotting ideas down.
