Dot Day

The children across Herne View School embraced their imaginations and artistic talents on September the 15th for Dot Day. Dot Day is a celebration of creativity, courage, and self-expression inspired by the popular children’s book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds.

Pupils of all ages spent the day exploring how a simple dot can spark an entire world of artistic possibilities. From colourful collages to intricate patterns, every child created a unique piece of artwork that showcased their individual flair and enthusiasm. The afternoon began with a reading of The Dot, which encourages children to "make their mark" and see where it takes them. The message resonated throughout the school as classrooms buzzed with excitement and creativity.

“Dot Day was fun, and we got to turn dots into pretty pictures,” said Lacey, one of the many enthusiastic young artists.

“I liked playing 'I spy' the different types of dots,” added Nicholas, reflecting on the interactive and imaginative elements of the activities.

Sasviru summed up the spirit of the event perfectly: “Dot Day is about being creative.”

The day was a vibrant reminder of the power of imagination, and how even the smallest mark, like a single dot, can lead to something extraordinary.
